Deze schatkamer van Sjostakovitsj-zeldzaamheden presenteert vier wereldpremière-opnames.

De muziek voor de film The Girlfriends, opnieuw gereconstrueerd op basis van verschillende originele bronnen, waaronder de soundtrack uit 1934 en een aantal recent ontdekte Preludes, en de partituren voor de toneelproducties van Salute to Spain en Rule, Britannia!, komen uit een van de meest vruchtbare en briljante periodes uit het creatieve leven van de componist en zijn vrijwel volledig onbekend.

Het onvoltooide symfonische deel uit 1945, dat ruim een ??halve eeuw verborgen had gelegen, blijkt Sjostakovitsj’ eerste idee voor zijn Negende symfonie.

Mark Fitz-Gerald wordt door DSCH Journal omschreven als “een van de onmisbare Sjostakovitsj-vertolkers van onze tijd” en draagt ??bij aan zijn veelgeprezen reconstructie van Sjostakovitsj’ muziek voor de ‘geluidsstille’ film Odna (Alone), uitgebracht op Naxos 8570316
