Na meer dan 220 albums zit Jordi Savall nog steeds vol verrassingen en dat doet hij dan ook met deze opzwepende opname van een meesterwerk uit de Middeleeuwen. de Codex Las Huelgas, samengesteld in 1325 en herontdekt in 1904, is het enige manuscript uit die tijd dat nog bewaard is op zijn oorspronkelijke plaats: een cisterciënzer klooster op de weg naar Compostella in Noord-Spanje. Het geeft ons bevoorrechte toegang tot de muziek die in de drie eeuwen voor de voltooiing is geschreven. Jordi Savall heeft 11 van de 186 stukken uit de collectie geselecteerd. Zijn ensembles La Capella Reial de Catalunya en Hespèrion XXI laten alle schoonheid van deze fascinerende muziek horen.
